Nicholas P. Sargen is an economist who evolved into a global money manager with a long-standing presence in international financial markets dating back to the 1970s. He began his career at the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve before spending 25 years on Wall Street in senior roles at firms including Morgan Guaranty Trust, Salomon Brothers Inc., Prudential Insurance, and J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

Today, Sargen serves as Chief Investment Officer and Chief Economist at Western & Southern Financial Group and its affiliate, Fort Washington Investment Advisors Inc. He is also a prolific writer on international financial topics, sharing his latest insights through his blog, Real-time Financial Thoughts, available on his personal website.

During his time on Wall Street, Sargen frequently appeared on business television programs and was a regular panelist on Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and currently teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
