About author
Evan Lau is an accomplished alumnus of Universiti Putra Malaysia, boasting a wealth of experience and research expertise in International Economics, utilizing various econometric methods. His recent foray into socioeconomic disciplines such as Economics of Crime and Suicide commenced in 2005 upon his joining the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Since his appointment as Associate Professor in June 2014, he has also served as the Managing Editor of the International Journal of Business and Society (IJBS), a globally recognized, peer-reviewed journal indexed in databases such as SCOPUS, ESCI, MCC, ProQuest, Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory, Cabell’s Directories (Economics, Finance, and Management), and EBSCO Host Publishing. Additionally, he oversees the Centre of Excellence for Business, Economics, and Finance Forecasting (BEFfore) at UNIMAS, which serves as a crucial resource for business, economic, and finance forecasting.
During October 2013 to April 2014, Lau was a Visiting Scholar in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge.
His extensive career includes stints as a Retail Manager, Senior Science Master of a government secondary school, and Merchandising Manager for Robinsons Departmental Store’s Menswear Division. In 1973, he joined the Singapore Institute of Management, eventually rising to the position of its Chief Operating Officer. He was conferred his Ph.D. in 1994 for a thesis on Developing a Factor Model of Management Work in Singapore.
